Living a quiet civilian life six years after giving up his mercenary alter ego, Wade Wilson is suddenly pulled back into action when agents from the Time Variance Authority (TVA) abduct him from his birthday party. A rogue TVA administrator named Mr. Paradox informs Wade that his home universe, Earth-6160 (Earth-10005), is deteriorating due to the death of its anchor being James "Logan" Howlett and offers Wade a chance to join the main Marvel Cinematic Universe, Earth 616. Refusing to let his loved ones perish with his timeline, Wade steals Paradox's TemPad and travels across the multiverse to locate a replacement Wolverine. He recruits a disillusioned variant of Logan who feels responsible for failing his own universe's X-Men, but Paradox banishes both of them to the Void a desolate wasteland at the end of time. While attempting to escape, the duo must battle Cassandra Nova, Charles Xavier's powerful and sadistic twin sister who controls the Void, while uniting with a ragtag resistance group of forgotten Marvel heroes including Blade, Elektra, Gambit, and Laura (X-23) to stop Paradox and Nova from using a reality wiping device known as the Time Ripper to eradicate Wade's home world.
