Skonflix Overview & Editorial Review
Kim Do-hyeon works as an unassuming accountant team manager at Sangsaeng Savings Bank, maintaining a quiet, ordinary life as a devoted single father raising his teenage daughter, Min-ji, in order to fulfill his late wife's dying wishes. However, his civilian facade completely conceals his true identity as "Agent 66", a highly classified, battle hardened former covert operative who tops North Korea's most wanted list. The fragile peace of his civilian life shatters when Min-ji is brutally assaulted by a classmate and subsequently goes missing after a violent altercation involving the daughter of Juhak Construction's powerful chairman. Believing initially that his daughter has been killed, Kim abandons his quiet routine, dusts off his lethal black ops skillset, and unleashes a trail of unstoppable destruction across the city to track down those responsible.
During his frantic search, Kim crosses paths with two other middle aged fathers who share a similar hidden background: taekwondo instructor Seong Han-soo and former military veteran Park Jin-cheol. Driven by fierce paternal empathy, the trio of former spies forms a reluctant alliance, pitting their collective combat experience against ruthless criminal syndicates, corrupt politicians, and state intelligence agencies from both North and South Korea. As Kim edges closer to recovering his daughter, his sudden violent resurgence alerts North Korean intelligence and South Korea's Special Missions Directorate (SMD), drawing both rival factions into a chaotic scramble to capture or eliminate him before old intergovernmental secrets are exposed.
Based on the popular Naver Webtoon Manager Kim created by Jeong Jong-taek and Toy, Agent Kim Reactivated was developed as a 10 episode South Korean revenge and action thriller series. Written by Nam Dae-joong and co-directed by Yi Seung-young and Lee So-eun, the project was produced by Studio S and Fantagio. Production utilized dynamic urban soundstages and realistic street locations across South Korea to capture the gritty, fast paced choreography and high-stakes tension characteristic of modern espionage dramas.
Following its domestic broadcast on SBS TV and simultaneous global streaming release on Netflix between June and July 2026, the series quickly emerged as one of the summer's biggest television hits. Critics and audiences praised the show for its unique fusion of heavy parental emotional core, visceral close quarters fight sequences, and dark satirical humor, cementing its status as a standout adaptation and sparking widespread industry discussions regarding a potential second season.
