Set in a world where superpowers are commercialized and managed by the sinister megacorporation Vought International, corrupt superheroes known as "Supes" abuse their fame and abilities while hiding their dark, violent tendencies behind polished public personas. Following the tragic, accidental death of his girlfriend at the hands of a speedster hero, ordinary electronics salesman Hughie Campbell is recruited by Billy Butcher, a gritty vigilante with a personal vendetta against Vought's premier superhero team, "The Seven." Together with a ragtag crew of anti Vought operatives Frenchie, Mother's Milk, and Kimiko the vigilantes launch a bloody underground war to expose Vought's dark secrets, including the corporate creation of superheroes via the illicit drug Compound V, and bring down the unstable, sociopathic leader of The Seven, Homelander.
